China tightens foreign exchange rules

To view the full details, ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND CLICK GO :

April 01, 2007. Major concern has been sparked by the announcement of a massive reduction in the amount of US dollars that China’s foreign residents can exchange into Renminbi Yuan (RMB). Foreign nationals are now allowed to change only up to US$ 50 000 a year into RMB at Chinese banks. To exchange more, evidence such as bills and invoices are required to be produced in support of the claim, according to China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). Prior to the introduction of the new regulation, the limit was US$ 50 000 a month for expatriates. At the same time, SAFE announced that the Chinese themselves can now use RMB to purchase up to a maximum of US$ 50 000, an increase of US$ 30 000 a year. The new limit has been established ‘on a reasonable basis to restrain the entry of unregulated funds through individual channels’, according to a SAFE spokesperson. But foreigners living in China - and especially businessmen - say the new policy is making life difficult. A US businessman r ... more
Goudsmit simplifies carbon black separation

To view the full details, ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND CLICK GO :

April 01, 2007. Dutch manufacturer Goudsmit Magnetic Systems has created a new design of rotating clean-flow magnet for carbon black processing. When separating the pearl-shaped carbon black stream from iron parts, the pellets often stick to the bars. In the Goudsmit system, the bars are scraped clean during each cleaning cycle through the incorporation of a mechanical scrape ring. The bars are tempered to ensure no damage can be inflicted by the scraping mechanism. Meanwhile, in order to prevent the falling carbon black stream from damaging the bars, a small valve box has been developed to restrict the height of fall. Use of rotating magnets helps to boost process capacity while strong Neoflux magnets allow even tiny iron parts of ± 35 microns to be removed, explains Goudsmit. ... more

April 01, 2007. Equipment manufacturer Caterpillar has announced the release of the H35Ds hammer - the latest addition to the D-series of hammers which cater to the needs of after-market and rental business customers. The H35Ds hammer has been designed with the focus on reliability and ease of serviceability. The lower/upper bushings and thrust ring have been incorporated in a three-in-one service part which improves visibility and access to the entire tool guidance system for quick inspection in the field, thus eliminating the need to send hammers to a specialist repair centre. The check-in/check-out procedure for rental stores is simplified given that all core wear components can be changed in a matter of minutes without special tooling. The hammer features a six-piece system to isolate the power cell and hammer housing for carrier protection and operator comfort against mechanical vibration. A wide oil-flow acceptance range and high operating pressure result in a high-performance hammer delivering ... more
