Shareholders in Chilean molybdenum processor Molymet have approved a US$ 216 million increase in capital. Some 12.7 million shares have been issued to raise funds for several growth projects that could include organic expansion and acquisitions.
With a steady increase in demand for molybdenum, ‘that has meant building a new plant roughly every four years’, observes CEO John Graell.

Shougang adds scrap processing base |

Steel producer Shougang has commissioned a scrap processing centre in Xushui county in northern China's Hebei province. According to the company it is part of their growing demand of scrap metal in steel making. The company is the fourth largest steel maker in China, it recently opened two scrap processing facilities in Fangshan and Fengtai, near Beijing. As part of the government’s depollution strategy, Shougang recently moved out of Beijing’s city centre.

German company Scholz Recycling AG, the recycling division of Scholz AG, has agreed to acquire all shares of fellow German recycler and scrap metal trader Fegert group, for an undisclosed sum.
Fegert, who resides in Schönebeck and Magdeburg consists of the divisions Fegert Recycling GmbH, Fegert Recycling GmbH Foundry and ESM Scrap and Metal trading. Last year the company processed 160 000 tonnes of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous scrap, resulting in a turn-over of Euro 60 million, employing 60 people. ... more
