* Argent Energy
Commercial production has begun at the world’s largest plant for converting both used cooking oil and animal fats into vehicle fuel. The Argent Energy facility at Motherwell in Scotland supplied its first load to Petroplus as part of a contract which could see up to 25 000 tonnes of biodiesel being sent each year to refineries for blending with mineral diesel. The final product is to be marketed on filling station forecourts under the Bio-plus brand.

Schnitzer Steel Industries of Portland, Oregon, has appointed Don Hamaker to the newly-created position of President of its metals recycling business.
