Dear Joanne Doyle,
I won t pretend to know anything about recycling issues in London. If I want to know about them, I would first read, and then follow-up speak to people/institutions indicated in the pages of the WARMER Bulletin which should be accessible to you, being a UK publication.
Ideas for a research topic. I have one:
A few years ago, we at the New England office of the US Environmental Protection Agency, worked with the Civil Engineering Student Group at a local university to have them trace the movement of recycled commodities from collection to ultimate destination. It had to be limited to two types of plastics. But it was a good project and it was replicated in a few other places around the States.
I suggest it as a model for your research, should the knowledge such a topic produces be adding value to the London recycling community. I would be happy to make the original report available to you. Send us a message at the Research Library for RCRA via this Website that includes your postal mailing address and specifically asks for this document. You can call it the Northeastern University Plastics Study.
