Regarding the process involved in recycling automotive glass, you should get the best technical information from one of the following sources:

Phillip Townsend Associates, Inc. Houston TX, 713-873-8733 (In 1992 they conducted a huge study of Post-Consumer Vehicle Recycling for the Motor Vehicle Manufacturer s Assn. under Agreement Number PTAI 9205-C2140A

The Vehicle Recycling Development Center, project of the Big 3 automakers, Highland Park, MI. They have been working on this for several years. One writeup on them appeared in the magazine Recycling Today 2/94.

Another possibility is the Automotive Recycler Program, Fairfax, VA. I m not certain that they are still around, but they used to be at 703-385-1001.

Also, on the Pollution Prevention aspects of Motor Vehicles waste management, the states of New England have given out the following telephone numbers to call:

CT 203-424-3297
ME 207-789-9802
MA 617-292-5898
NH 800-273-9469
RI 401-277-3434
VT 800-974-9559
