Dear Tassos Syngrassides,

There are very many uses for recycled tyres. The question is, how much processing do you want to do on them? The technology question will largely decide whatlevel of processing you do as will potential markets. Here is a long list of uses, from minimal processing to maximal:

Splitting only:

erosion control devices
dock bumbers
irrigation receptacles
irrigation feeders
floor mats
belts
gaskets
insulators
washers
farming equipment
fishing net parts and rollers

Shredding:

building blocks
retaining walls
road base
landscaping products
traffic control products

Crumbing:

molded products such as carpet padding
railroad ties and crossings
playground or athletic surfaces
roofing materials
asphalt additive
pavements
office products
