There are many sources of information which will answer your questions about recycling, many of them in the archives of this website. But specifically, in a form that would be accessible at a university in India, these are possibilities:
Recycling Sourcebook ed by Thomas J. Cichonski and Karen Hill (Gale, 1993)
Waste Age/Recycling Times' Recycling Handbook, ed. by John T. Aquino (Lewis Publishers, 1995)
Integrated Solid Waste Management: Options for Legislative Action, ed. by Frank Kreith (Genium Publishing, 1990).
Decision-Maker's Guide to Solid Waste Management, 2nd edition, by US EPA, EPA 530-R-95-023, August, 1995 (probably available at the US EPA website or from the US Dept. of Commerce, NTIS.
Frank Ackerman's book whose title I forget, but includes the word Recycling is also a good source.
