Dear Dimitra Hloptsidis,

The California Integrated Waste Mgmt. Board in Sacramento, and Urban Ore in Berkeley are two great sources to go to.

A terrific baseline report on SF and other cities of similar size is contained in In-Depth Studies of Recycling and Composting Progams: Designs, Costs, Results, Vol 3: Urban Areas, by US EPA, EPA 530-X-93-006c, 12/93. This will demonstrate how far SF has come when you get contemporary figures.

You should also read periodical literature from the waste/recycling trade press.
