Regarding non toxic wood dyes, checkwith the American Forest Paper Assn, as well as with other wood products trade assns. My understanding is that for wwood staining, not dying per se, there is a large supply of accepable non toxic coatings. Also that those processes which eliminate solvents in coating, such as electrostatic powder-based finishes, and vacuum staining are good alternatives.
