Ways to increase curbside recycling in the UK:

Given that this is the UK, the best answer, EDUCATION AND MORE AND BETTER EDUCATION OF THE CITIZENRY IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE, is probably not as relevant as elsewhere as many municipalities in England and Scotland pioneered this. Othr answers that have worked in the US include:

- instituting pay per bag or pay as you throw programs, but this has to be instituted by a local government. It has been shown to be the singlemost effective means of significantly increasing and sustaining the increase in curbside recycling volume and participation.
- the authoritarian solution: make it mandatory and penalize malfactors
- make it profitable to the participant, directly or indirectly
