It?s a non-profit organization created to manage the task of salvaging and recycling glass container waste. Founded in November of 1995, ECOVIDRIO was created to meet the obligations set by Act 11/1997, the Container and Container Waste Act (Official Gazette of the Spanish State, April 25, 1997), which transposes Community Directive 94/62/CE into Spanish law, and to help save the environment. At present, its members are glass container manufacturers, packagers who mostly use glass (spirit, wine, juice, beer and cider bottlers), and glass salvagers. ECOVIDRIO is an integrated management system that guarantees that all the glass it salvages will be recycled, working with glassmaking companies? recycling officers and with autonomic communities and city councils. Thanks to its efforts, local corporations reap the benefit of having the container waste they generate removed.
