98%-plus purity claimed for tyre wire cleaner |
Message : |
Product News | A large proportion of the millions of used tyres returned for recycling each year are converted into rubber granules. However, MeWa Recycling Maschinen und Anlagenbau GmbH of Gechingen in Germany focused on another crucial component of these tyres when developing the UNI-CUT SP tyre wire cleaner.
Designed to remove textile and rubber residues from the steel wire to leave the highest quality of metal, the tyre wire cleaner is configured for a throughput of around 1 tonne per hour. The wire emerging at the end of the process boasts a purity greater than 98% and is suitable for use in steel smelting operations, according to the developer. Once the textile residue is removed in a separate process, the rubber can then be processed to create a granulate or fine powder.
After initial shredding, the steel fraction is often very unclean, with typically 10-35% by weight of rubber and textiles removed along with the steel wire - a proportion too high for a smelting operation. MeWa claims that the UNI-CUT SP almost completely separates rubber residues from the wire using a combination of shear and pressing forces. The turnkey MeWa line is encapsulated and combines the advantages of a low-wear mill with the dynamic properties of a granulator, the company states.
